We were tasked to produce a feasibility for Ringsend Irishtown Community Centre. The site and brief are equally as dynamic. The site is unique – fronting Thorncastle Street on one side and with an expansive river frontage with sweeping views across the docklands to the other. The brief includes a large multi-purpose hall, cafe, boxing club, exhibition spaces, training spaces and headquarters for Headway – a group helping to rehabilitate people with brain injury. Accessibility is of paramount importance. The scheme allows for permeability through the site to link Thorncastle Street to a proposed pedestrian bridge to the south docks. It also opens up the site visually to the public areas of housing developments to the north and south.
